Get Started with Phased Array System Toolbox
Phased Array System Toolbox™ provides algorithms and apps in MATLAB® and Simulink® for designing and simulating sensor array and beamforming systems in wireless communication, radar, sonar, and acoustic applications. You can model and analyze the behavior of active and passive arrays, including subarrays and arbitrary geometries. You can also generate C code from the functions in the toolbox.
For 5G and LTE cellular, SATCOM, and WLAN communications systems, you can design multibeam and electronically steerable antennas. The toolbox includes algorithms for simulating hybrid and full digital beamforming architectures for massive MIMO and millimeter wave systems. You can simulate multipath fading environments to test the performance of beamforming antenna arrays.
For radar, sonar, and acoustic system design, the toolbox includes algorithms for beamforming, space-time adaptive processing (STAP), direction of arrival (DOA) estimation, matched filtering, and image formation. The toolbox also provides continuous and pulsed waveforms that you can use to generate simulation test signals and simulate target echoes and interferences.

Videos
An introduction to Phased Arrays
An array refers to multiple sensors, arranged in some
configuration, that act together to produce a desired sensor
pattern. This video shows how you can electronically steer that
pattern without having to physically move the array simply by
adjusting the phase of the signals at each individual
element.
What is beamforming?
This video shows how to control the shape and directionality of
the gain pattern of an array of antenna elements by adjusting the
amplitude and phase of each element. This makes it easier to detect
targets in the presence of interference and clutter.
What is beamforming for communications?
Wireless communication systems like 5G and WiFi usually have to
serve many users simultaneously and they have to deal with multiple
paths between two radios when operating in a scattering rich
environment. This video covers how multichannel beamforming and
spatial diversity is used to overcome those issues.
What is beamforming for radar?
This video shows how to employ digital beamforming to improve
radar systems. It shows how we can combine the use of sensor arrays
with multiple RF chains to have more control over the shape and
directionality of radar beams in order to maximize signal and
minimize interference. It also allows for multiple independently
steered beams from the same array.
