Fault Behavior Modeling and Fault Triggering

Model fault behaviors and trigger faults during simulation

Fault engineering refers to the process of intentionally injecting faults or failures your model to analyze its performance under adverse conditions. The objective is to identify and assess potential vulnerabilities, reliability issues, and failure modes and to improve the overall resilience and robustness of the system.

One of the primary benefits of fault engineering is that you can proactively identify and mitigate potential issues rather than waiting for them to occur in real-world scenarios. Fault engineering plays a role in ensuring the dependability and performance of complex systems, particularly those used in safety-critical or mission-critical applications.

Simscape gives you the ability to engineer faults into your model that you can control from a central interface. You can turn off all fault modeling at once to return your model to its baseline state. You can also interact with faults in your Simscape model using the MATLAB command line.
