Use of Model-Based Design and Polyspace Products by Solar Impulse
Ralph Paul, Solar Impulse
Engineers at Solar Impulse used Model-Based Design and Polyspace® static code analysis to ensure the software in their solar plane complied with DO-178B. Model-Based Design and Polyspace static code analysis tools saved development time and helped researchers find and eliminate problems earlier and faster in order to meet objectives.
Solar Impulse is the only airplane of perpetual endurance able to fly day and night on solar power without a drop of fuel. The challenge is to attempt the First Round-the-World Solar Flight in 2015—and is a way for the team to demonstrate how a pioneering spirit, innovation, and clean technologies can change the world.
