Software Verification of a Modern Drilling Rig Using HIL
Nicolai Husteli, Marine Cybernetics
Modern ships and rigs have advanced computer systems for dynamic positioning, power generation and distribution, and drilling operations. Software errors in these systems lead to delays and nonproductive time, and compromise safety. Marine Cybernetics performs third-party testing and verification of control system software to detect and eliminate such errors and weaknesses using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing technology. In this presentation we talk about how Marine Cybernetics has introduced HIL testing to the offshore and maritime industries in cooperation with major industry partners. Our unique CyberSea Technology can be adjusted to test systems from any control system producer. CyberSea HIL applications are made by using Simulink® and Embedded Coder® to produce state-of-the-art simulation models that are executed in a Java® application framework.
